PORTIONS OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO BELOW SIGNIFICANT SNOW PACK DUE TO
STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY...

.DEEP ATMOSPHERIC MIXING AND A LEE SIDE SURFACE TROUGH WILL INDUCE
DOWNSLOPE SURFACE WINDS THIS AFTERNOON WHILE HUMIDITY FALLS NEAR
AND BELOW 15 PERCENT. ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND UNSTABLE HAINES
INDICES OF 4 TO 6 WILL EXACERBATE THE FIRE WEATHER THREAT. IN
ADDITION...THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY
AGAIN ON TUESDAY...MOSTLY IMPACTING AREAS IMMEDIATELY EAST OF THE

* AREA AND TIMING...THE EAST CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST PLAINS OF NEW
  MEXICO. WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND HUMIDITY
  WILL PLUMMET INTO THE LATE AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE
  EXPECTED IN EASTERN SAN MIGUEL...GUADALUPE AND WESTERN QUAY
  COUNTIES. AFTER DECREASING IN SPEED MONDAY EVENING...WINDS WILL
  LIKELY RESTRENGTHEN TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS HUMIDITY PLUMMETS
  AGAIN.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...WEST SOUTHWEST 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS FROM 30
  TO 40 MPH TODAY. ON TUESDAY WINDS WILL NOT BE AS STRONG AS
  TODAY...WITH THE HIGHEST SPEEDS REMAINING NEAR AND WEST OF A ROY
  TO SANTA ROSA LINE WHERE SUSTAINED WEST SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO
  20 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO 35 MPH.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 TO 13 PERCENT TODAY...DROPPING AGAIN ON
  TUESDAY TO 9 TO 12 PERCENT.

* IMPACTS...ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY.
