...A WIDESPREAD FREEZE EXPECTED TONIGHT IN THE MIDDLE AND LOWER
RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND IN CHAVES COUNTY...

A Pacific cold front moved across central New Mexico Friday night
and a backdoor cold front will move westward across eastern and
central New Mexico today. Behind these cold fronts, a
significantly cooler air mass will settle over the region today
and tonight. Light winds and clear skies will cause temperatures
to fall sharply tonight into Sunday morning. A hard freeze is
expected in the middle and lower Rio Grande Valley and in Chaves
County.

This freeze is occurring very late in the season. The latest first
freeze date at the Albuquerque Sunport was November 22, 2007 and
second latest was on November 20, 2001. A freeze on Sunday,
November 19, would be the third latest freeze date for the Sunport.

Remember to move sensitive plants indoors and make sure that pets
have a warm place to shelter. Monitor the latest forecast and
observations at weather.gov/abq, through your preferred local
media, or follow NWS Albuquerque on Facebook and Twitter.
