...WINTER MAKES A COMEBACK LATE THIS WEEKEND...

TWO MID AND UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE DISTURBANCES...PLUS A VIGOROUS
BACK DOOR COLD FRONT...WILL IMPACT NORTH AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
THIS WEEKEND. THE SECOND SYSTEM WILL BRING MUCH COLDER AIR...STRONG
WINDS...ESPECIALLY BEHIND THE COLD FRONT...AND SOME SIGNIFICANT
ACCUMULATING SNOW TO ROUGHLY THE NORTHEAST THIRD OF THE STATE LATE
SUNDAY INTO MONDAY. THE WEAKER FIRST SYSTEM WILL IMPART BREEZY TO
LOCALLY WINDY CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AS WELL AS SOME
VERY SPOTTY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...MANY OF WHICH WILL BE DRY
OR AT BEST ONLY BRING BRIEF MOSTLY LIGHT RAINFALL. BRIEF DURATION
STRONG WIND GUSTS WILL LIKELY ACCOMPANY THE STRONGER SHOWERS AND
STORMS.

THE SECOND SYSTEM WILL BRING HIGHER HUMIDITIES...MAINLY TO LOCALES
FROM THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN EASTWARD. MORE SIGNIFICANTLY...
ENOUGH COOLING...MOISTURE AND LIFT IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR ACROSS THE
NORTHEAST THIRD SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING TO GENERATE AT LEAST
SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW TO THE SANGRE DE CRISTOS...ADJACENT PORTIONS
OF THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS AND ALSO FARTHER EAST CLOSE TO THE
COLORADO LINE. SHOWERS AND EVEN A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP
ACROSS THIS AREA SUNDAY...MOST OF THIS IN THE FORM OF RAIN...BUT THE
BACK DOOR FRONT WILL DROP INTO NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO BY MIDDAY
SUNDAY...OR DURING THE AFTERNOON...AND DROP TEMPERATURES NOTICEABLY.
HOWEVER ACCUMULATING SNOW IS NOT LIKELY TO BEGIN UNTIL MID OR LATE
EVENING. IT MAY BEGIN A LITTLE EARLIER ACROSS THE HIGHER PEAKS OF THE
SANGRE DE CRISTOS. THE SNOW AND STRONG WINDS SHOULD BEGIN TO SUBSIDE
A FEW HOURS EITHER SIDE OF DAWN MONDAY ACROSS THE NORTHEAST
QUARTER...BUT FARTHER SOUTH SOME LIGHTER SNOW OR A WINTRY MIX WILL
LIKELY LINGER LATER INTO THE MORNING.
