...Summary...
A severe thunderstorm moved across northern and eastern
Westmoreland county, especially areas near the Potomac River.
This storm produced hail in the 1 inch to 1.25 inch range, and
some straight line wind damage. The most significant damage
occurred in and just east of Colonial Beach Virginia, where many
trees were downed, boat shelters collapsed, and roofing material
was blown off a large building. Some damage to homes occurred,
primary due to trees falling on them. Power outages occurred to
much of the town of Colonial Beach. In addition, the storm
affected the area just south of Colonial Beach, where numerous
trees were also downed at Monroe Bay campground. Several
trailers were also damaged, one of which was blown over.
