.DISCUSSION...
A rather cool day across the Panhandles today, in comparison to
the conditions we have had prior to last night`s frontal passage.
The low pressure system which pushed the this front through may
allow for lingering light showers across the northwestern
Panhandles. After today, westerly flow will be in place, which
will help induce lee side trough across eastern New Mexico and aid
in bringing gusty southwest winds across the western half of the
Panhandles. Compressional warming as a result of the lee trough
will help bring temperature recovery back into the upper 40s and
lower 50s areawide on Saturday, and up to the 50s and lower 60s on
Sunday. By Monday, a shortwave trough will eject out of the desert
southwest and help develop a lee trough which will push across the
region. Once again, warm and dry conditions will prevail with
little chance for precipitation activity. A stronger system on
Tuesday will push across the area, with a possible dryline
setting up east of our area. There may be a hint of precipitation
for the far northern Panhandles as the system transits across, but
confidence is low given the dry boundary layer at the surface.
After this system passes by Wednesday, dry northwesterly flow will
prevail to close out the next work week.

.AVIATION...Previous Discussion...
For the 18Z TAFs:
VFR conditions expected at all TAF sites. A weak upper level
trough will pass across the Oklahoma Panhandle and northern
Texas Panhandle. This will increase some mid level cloudiness
for that region and maybe generate a few light sprinkles. Have
noted some mid level cloudiness for KDHT and KGUY. For all TAFS,
north winds around 15kts with a few gusts above 20 kts will
lighten to less than 10 kts and turn more northeast after 00z.
Winds should lay to light and variable by 08z as surface high
pressure moves in behind the trough.

.FIRE WEATHER...
An upper low passing to the north of the Panhandles will help
increase northwesterly winds through the remainder of the
afternoon, which may aid in drying out the lower levels across the
extreme southwestern Texas Panhandle for elevated fire weather
conditions. Otherwise, westerly flow aloft will help bring passing
weather disturbances on Saturday and Sunday. The latest forecast
has trended downward on wind speeds and raised minimum relative
humidity values on Saturday. Have also reduced wind speed
forecasts on Sunday for most of the region. Despite this, elevated
fire weather conditions will be possible across the far western
Panhandles on Saturday, with little to no fire weather concerns on
Sunday. Elevated conditions will be possible once again on both
Monday and Tuesday afternoon, though model guidance has been
trending wind speeds down and relative humidity values up.
