...COLDEST TEMPERATURES SO FAR THIS SEASON EXPECTED MIDWEEK FOR THE
PANHANDLES...

AN ARCTIC AIRMASS IS EXPECTED TO SETTLE OVER THE PANHANDLE MIDWEEK.
ONCE IN PLACE, OUR HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL STRUGGLE TO REACH THE
FREEZING MARK WHILE OUR OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES DROP INTO THE
TEENS AND EVEN SINGLE DIGITS. THERE ARE SOME UNCERTAINTIES WITH THE
FORECAST SO HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW:

1) INITIAL COLD FRONT EXPECTED TUESDAY BEFORE THE MAIN ARCTIC SURGE
WEDNESDAY. THERE IS SOME DIFFERENCE ON TIMING OF THE ARCTIC SURGE ON
WEDNESDAY SO HIGH TEMPERATURES MAY VARY. THE ARCTIC AIRMASS EXPECTED
TO PERSIST THROUGH THURSDAY BEFORE WE START TO WARM BACK UP.

2) WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING WILL BE OUR COLDEST
TEMPERATURES THIS SEASON. SINGLE DIGIT LOWS EXPECTED ACROSS THE
OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE AND EXTREME NORTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE WITH TEENS
ACROSS THE MAJORITY OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE.

3) THURSDAY MORNING WIND CHILL VALUES MAY RANGE FROM 6 TO -5 DEGREE.
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MAY BE NEEDED THURSDAY MORNING FOR PORTIONS OF
THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES WHERE WIND CHILL VALUES MAY DROP TO -5
DEGREES. THIS IS NOT SET IN STONE AS LIGHT WINDS MAY BE A LIMITING
FACTOR.

4) SNOW MAY BE POSSIBLE TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY...BUT FORECAST
MODELS HAVE BEEN TRENDING DRIER WITH TIME. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE
SNOW WILL BE CONTAINED TO KANSAS WITH QUESTIONS AS TO HOW FAR SOUTH
THE SNOW WILL STRETCH. EXPECT UPDATES TO THE SNOW POTENTIAL OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS.

OVERALL, WE ARE LOOKING AT VERY COLD WEATHER THIS WEEK. TAKE ACTION
TO ENSURE PETS AND LIVESTOCK HAVE WAYS TO STAY WARM AND ACCESS TO
WATER. BE PREPARED TO DRESS WARMLY AS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES COULD
RESULT IN FROSTBITE OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME ON EXPOSED SKIN.

FORECAST.
