A SIGNIFICANT STORM WILL IMPACT THE REGION SUNDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY WITH STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY PRECIPITATION. A PERIOD OF STRONG TO PERHAPS DAMAGING WINDS ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE BOSTON TO PROVIDENCE CORRIDOR AND POINTS SOUTH AND EAST MONDAY AFTERNOON INTO MONDAY NIGHT. EASTERLY WIND GUSTS OF 45 TO 55 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH A RISK FOR A FEW GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH. THERE REMAINS SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING PRECIPITATION TYPE. THE HIGHEST RISK FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SNOW AND/OR ICE WILL BE ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES AND ACROSS THE NORTHERN WORCESTER HILLS. FURTHER SOUTHEAST ALONG THE BOSTON TO PROVIDENCE CORRIDOR...THE PRECIPITATION WILL MOST LIKELY BE IN THE FORM OF RAIN EXCEPT FOR PERHAPS A PERIOD OF SLEET AND WET SNOW AT THE ONSET. ALTHOUGH RIVER FLOODING IS NOT LIKELY, HEAVY RAIN COULD PRODUCE AREAS OF POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING. SOME SPLASHOVER IS POSSIBLE AT THE TIME OF THE MONDAY EVENING HIGH TIDE.
