PREVIOUSLY THE SECOND DRIEST SEPTEMBER WAS IN 1959 WHEN THE AREA RECEIVED 0.77 INCHES. THE DRIEST SEPTEMBER IN PROVIDENCE WAS IN 1914 WHEN THE AREA RECEIVED 0.48 INCHES. BOSTON FELL SHORT OF ITS LIST OF TEN DRIEST SEPTEMBERS THANKS TO RAINFALL THAT FELL ON TUESDAY...THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH. THE RAINFALL TOTAL FOR SEPTEMBER 2014 WAS 0.70 INCHES.
