...DRY HOT AND BREEZY CONDITIONS AIDING POTENTIAL FOR RAPID GROWTH
OF WILDFIRE TODAY...

THE COMBINATION OF INCREASINGLY DRY FUELS...FORECAST RELATIVE
HUMIDITY BETWEEN 15 AND 25 PERCENT DURING THE MID TO LATE
AFTERNOON...AND 20 FOOT WINDS PICKING UP TO 15 TO 20 MPH WILL
BRING AN INCREASED THREAT FOR FAST GROWING WILDFIRES BETWEEN 2 AND
6 PM ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE MID AND UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND
NEARBY RANCHLANDS.

AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE HIDALGO...STARR...SOUTHERN JIM HOGG...AND
SOUTHERN BROOKS COUNTY. THESE AREAS ARE ALSO IN SEVERE DROUGHT OR
ON THE EDGE OF MODERATE TO SEVERE DROUGHT.

SIMILAR CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED AGAIN THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

A FAIRLY RAPID GROWTH WILDFIRE PERSONS WORKING OR SPENDING TIME
OUTDOORS SHOULD TAKE THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS TODAY...AND AGAIN
ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON:

DISPOSE OF CIGARETTES IN VEHICLE ASHTRAYS.

PARK VEHICLES AND TRACTORS ON DIRT OR PAVED AREAS...NOT IN HIGH
GRASS OR NEAR UNCUT BRUSH.

USE WELDING OR GRINDING EQUIPMENT ON PAVED
AREAS...NOT IN HIGH GRASS OR NEAR UNCUT BRUSH.
