000 FNUS52 KCAE 231859 FWFCAE Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina and East Central Georgia National Weather Service Columbia SC 259 PM EDT Sun Apr 23 2017 .DISCUSSION...A well-organized low pressure system will slowly move east across the forecast area this evening through Monday before exiting off the coast Monday night. Ahead of this, instability combined with upper-level energy could help trigger strong thunderstorms through this evening. The highest risk area is from the Central Savannah River Area across to the southern and eastern Midlands. Otherwise, periods of rain, heavy at times, will occur through the nighttime and during the daytime Monday. The pressure gradient will be tight enough with the approaching low pressure to provide fair dispersion during the evening and into Monday morning. Cloudiness and low-level mixing will inhibit all but light fog associated with rainfall. Surface winds Monday will be variable especially across the Central Savannah River Area nearest to the low pressure center. Elsewhere, winds from the north-northeast at 5 to 10 mph are expected. Transport winds will be mostly north at 10 to 15 mph. Relative humidities will remain well above 60 percent through the daytime.
