Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
236 PM EDT Wed May 8 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Several waves of strong to potentially severe storms are expected
through the forecast area through Friday. For the remainder of
today, the best chance for activity will be over the northern
Midlands and Pee Dee. Showers and thunderstorms continue across
the entire region for Thursday and Thursday night, with the
potential for several waves of activity to move through the
forecast area. Lingering activity still possible Friday morning
just ahead of a cold front, then drier conditions begin moving
in Friday night through the weekend.

Thunderstorms may produce gusty and erratic winds in excess of
40 mph. Otherwise, 20-ft winds generally southwesterly at less
than 15 mph though a few gusts to around 20 mph are possible
during peak heating hours.

Fog potential: Patchy fog in river valleys possible.
