NOON EST TODAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON HAS ISSUED A COASTAL
FLOOD ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO
NOON EST TODAY.

* LOCATION...LOW-LYING AREAS ALONG THE LOWER SOUTH CAROLINA
  COAST...INCLUDING DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON.

* TIDE LEVELS...TIDES ARE EXPECTED TO PEAK 7.2 TO 7.5 FEET MEAN
  LOWER LOW WATER IN THE CHARLESTON HARBOR. THIS WILL RESULT IN
  SHALLOW TO MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING ALONG MUCH OF THE LOWER
  SOUTH CAROLINA COAST.

* TIMING...THE RISK FOR SALT WATER FLOODING WILL BE HIGHEST WITHIN
  AN HOUR EITHER SIDE OF HIGH TIDE. HIGH TIDE WILL OCCUR IN THE
  CHARLESTON HARBOR AROUND 927 AM AND AROUND 1027 AM IN THE
  BEAUFORT RIVER AT BEAUFORT.

* IMPACTS...INUNDATION OF SALTWATER IN AND NEAR LOW-LYING
  COASTAL AREAS COULD LEAD TO SOME ROAD CLOSURES AND FLOODING OF
  PROPERTIES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF ROAD CLOSURES AND MINOR
FLOODING OF PROPERTIES. IF TRAVEL IS NECESSARY...DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.

  TYBEE ISLAND.

* TIDE LEVELS...TIDES ARE EXPECTED TO PEAK 9.1 TO 9.4 FEET MEAN
  LOWER LOW WATER AT THE FORT PULASKI TIDE GAGE. THIS WILL RESULT
  IN SHALLOW COASTAL FLOODING ALONG MUCH OF THE GEORGIA COAST.

* TIMING...THE RISK FOR SALT WATER FLOODING WILL BE HIGHEST WITHIN
  AN HOUR EITHER SIDE OF HIGH TIDE. HIGH TIDE WILL OCCUR IN THE
  SAVANNAH RIVER ENTRANCE AROUND 931 AM.

* IMPACTS...INUNDATION OF SALTWATER IN AND NEAR LOW-LYING COASTAL
  AREAS COULD LEAD TO SOME ROAD CLOSURES AND FLOODING OF
  PROPERTIES. HIGHWAY 80 BETWEEN WILMINGTON ISLAND AND TYBEE
  ISLAND IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN OPEN AT THIS TIME.
