...REMAIN ALERT FOR PATCHY BLACK ICE ON ROADS AND OTHER PAVED
SURFACES...

TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE UPPER 20S AND LOWER 30S
LATE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. THIS WILL CAUSE ANY STANDING
WATER TO RE-FREEZE AND CAUSE PATCHY BLACK ICE TO FORM ON PAVED
SURFACES SUCH AS BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES...PRIMARY AND SECONDARY
ROADS...PARKING LOTS...SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS.

THE GREATEST THREAT FOR PATCHY BLACK ICE WILL BE FOR LOCATIONS
MAINLY NORTH AND WEST OF A LINE EXTENDING FROM HIGHWAY 17 IN
CHARLESTON COUNTY TO RIDGELAND...ESTILL AND MARTIN.

BLACK ICE IS DIFFICULT TO SEE AND DISTINGUISH FROM DRY SURFACES.
THE DECEPTIVE NATURE OF BLACK ICE CAN CATCH YOU UNAWARE WHILE YOU
ARE DRIVING OR WALKING...CAUSING YOU TO LOSE CONTROL OF YOUR
MOTOR VEHICLE OR TO SLIP AND FALL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IF YOU PLAN TO DRIVE OR WALK...REMAIN ALERT FOR BLACK ICE. SLOW
YOUR DRIVING SPEED AND USE CARE WHEN WALKING ON SIDEWALKS...
DRIVEWAYS OR PARKING LOTS. SLIPS AND FALLS CONSTITUTE A LEADING
CAUSE OF INJURIES DURING WINTER WEATHER.
