THE LATEST DROUGHT MONITOR ISSUED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE ON APR 11 SHOWS A CONTINUED DROUGHT ACROSS PORTIONS OF
SOUTHWEST KANSAS.  AREAS WEST OF HIGHWAY 283 ARE IN D1 (MODERATE)
DROUGHT. THE REST OF THE AREA IS EITHER IN D0 (ABNORMALLY DRY) OR NO
DROUGHT.

CURRENT ENSO STATE...

ENSO-NEUTRAL CONDITIONS ARE CONTINUING RIGHT NOW. EL NINO CONDITIONS
ARE POSSIBLE BY SUMMER. THE OFFICIAL FORECAST FROM THE CPC CALLS FOR
SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND NEAR NORMAL PRECIPITATION
THROUGH THE NEXT THREE MONTHS.

.HYDROLOGIC IMPACTS...

HEAVY FLOWS MAY RESULT AS THE AREA GETS INTO THE TYPICAL WETTER
SPRING AND SUMMER PATTERN.

FUELS WILL CONTINUE TO BE SUPPORTIVE FOR ACTIVE FIRE BEHAVIOR.
