Subject: Service Change Notice for Rio Grande at Del Rio TX
(DLRT2) transitioning from flood-only to daily forecast services
Effective Sunday, March 31, 2024, forecast services for Rio
Grande at Del Rio, TX will transition from flood-only to daily
forecast.
This service change is at the request of local authorities.
Currently, a river flow forecast is only provided when the river
is expected to rise above minor flood stage (4.5ft/1.4m) based on
current observations and forecast rainfall amounts. On March
31th, a river flow forecast will be issued twice daily regardless
if the river is forecast to exceed minor flood stage or not.
The data for this forecast point is provided through our
partners, the International Boundary Water Commission (IBWC).
Without this critical data, forecasts and warnings would not be
possible at this location. You can learn more about these and
other stream gages operated by the IBWC by visiting:
https://www.ibwc.gov/water-data/
