..ABNORMALLY DRY DROUGHT CONDITIONS BEGIN TO CREEP INTO PARTS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA...

SYNOPSIS...
PRECIPITATION ACROSS NORTHEAST GEORGIA INTO THE SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS
OF NORTH CAROLINA IS TRENDING TOWARDS DRIER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS.
AS OF MARCH 13TH PRECIPITATION WAS AROUND 25 TO 50 PERCENT OF NORMAL
FOR BOTH 60  AND 30 DAYS. WITH THE APPROACH OF PLANTING SEASON THIS
IS A CONCERN.

CROP MOISTURE... AS MARCH 8TH INDICATED:

SLIGHTLY DRY TO FAVORABLY MOIST CONDITIONS ACROSS THE WESTERN
CAROLINA`S AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA.

7 DAY AVERAGE STREAMFLOW CONDITIONS...

IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA...OF THE 41 RANKED REPORTING SITES...1
SITE WAS RANKED WITHIN THE 9TH PERCENTILE OR LOWER...19 SITES WERE
WITHIN THE 10TH TO 24TH PERCENTILE (MAINLY IN THE MOUNTAINS) AND 21
SITES WERE WITHIN THE 25TH TO 90TH PERCENTILE OR HIGHER.

IN UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA...OF THE 14 RANKED REPORTING SITES...NO
SITES WERE RANKED WITHIN THE 10TH PERCENTILE OR LOWER...NO SITES WERE
WITHIN THE 10TH TO 24TH PERCENTILE...AND 14 SITES WERE WITHIN THE
25TH TO 90TH PERCENTILE OR HIGHER.

IN EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA...OF THE 7 RANKED REPORTING SITES...NO
SITES WERE RANKED WITHIN THE 9TH PERCENTILE OR LOWER...2 SITES WERE
WITHIN THE 10TH TO 24TH PERCENTILE...AND 5 SITES WERE WITHIN THE

THE FIRE DANGER CATEGORY WAS MODERATE TO HIGH ACROSS THE CAROLINA`S
AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA.

CLIMATE SUMMARY...

FOR THE LAST 30 DAYS...
THE PERCENT OF NORMAL RAINFALL RANGED FROM 10 TO 25 PERCENT OF
NORMAL ACROSS THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS AND NORTHEAST
GEORGIA.  THE UPSTATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND PIEDMONT AND FOOTHILLS
OF NORTH CAROLINA WERE MAINLY IN 75 TO 100 PERCENT OF NORMAL
RANGE.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK...

6 TO 10 DAY OUTLOOK MARCH 18 TO 22...

BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION
ACROSS THE WESTERN CAROLINA`S AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA.

30 DAY OUTLOOK...MARCH
EQUAL CHANCES OF BELOW OR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
PRECIPITATION.

90 DAY OUTLOOK FOR MARCH THROUGH MAY 2014 INDICATES:

EQUAL CHANCES OF ABOVE OR BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION AND  SLIGHTLY
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES THE UPSTATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA INTO
NORTHEAST GEORGIA. AND NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE PIEDMONT
AND FOOTHILLS OF NORTH CAROLINA.

HYDROLOGIC SUMMARY AND OUTLOOK...
ENSO-NEUTRAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH MAY THEN
BEGIN TO SHIFT TO EL NINO CONDITIONS. DROUGHT CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY
INCREASE IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND EXPAND INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH
CAROLINA.
