...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
...REPLACES FLOOD WARNING...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of west central Maine, including the following
county, Somerset.
* WHEN...Until 700 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 250 PM EDT, rain and snowmelt is occurring, and will cause
minor flooding. This will cause small stream flooding. Up to
1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Waterville, Fairfield, Eustis, Skowhegan, Oakland,
Pittsfield, Madison, Clinton, Kingfield and Bingham.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
