...STRAIGHT-LINE WIND DAMAGE ACROSS CLINTON AND HIGHLAND
COUNTIES IN OHIO...

A DAMAGE SURVEY CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN

STRAIGHT-LINE WIND DAMAGE BEGINNING NEAR NEW VIENNA IN SOUTHEASTERN
CLINTON COUNTY SPREAD OUT TO THE EAST-SOUTHEAST INTO HIGHLAND
COUNTY...AFFECTING AREAS FROM NEAR LEESBURG TO SAMANTHA. THE
DETERMINATION OF STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS IS BASED OFF A GROUND SURVEY
OF OBSERVABLE DAMAGE...EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS AND AVAILABLE RADAR
DATA.

THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED AT A TWO STORY HOME ON
LEEKA ROAD IN NEW VIENNA WHERE THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE WAS BLOWN
OFF. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS ALSO OBSERVED ON BERNARD ROAD TO THE
SOUTHEAST OF LEEKA ROAD...INCLUDING THE ROOF BEING BLOW OFF A
MOBILE HOME. BASED ON THE DAMAGE...WINDS THAT AFFECTED THIS AREA
ARE ESTIMATED TO HAVE BEEN 80 TO 90 MPH.

TREE DAMAGE...INCLUDING THOSE THAT WERE SNAPPED...WAS COMMON FROM
NEW VIENNA EAST-SOUTHEAST TO NEAR LEESBURG AND THEN DOWN TOWARD SAMANTHA.
THE DAMAGED TREES AND CROPS THAT WERE OBSERVED WERE GENERALLY
POINTING IN THE SAME DIRECTION...TO THE EAST-SOUTHEAST.
