...Changes in flood stage levels to occur at the NWS forecast
point along the Olentangy River near Worthington...

Effective October 26, 2017, the flood stage levels along the
Olentangy River at the U.S. Geological Gage near Worthington will
be changed. These changes are in close coordination with Sharon
Township Trustees and Police and Franklin County Emergency
Management Agency.

Changes in flood stage mean that flood warnings will be issued
when the river is forecast to exceed a specific river stage. The
trigger stages are changing, this has no bearing at all on FEMA flood
plain maps, but rather the coordinated efforts to provide warnings
at lower river stages to allow for additional warning lead time.

The existing flood stage along the Olentangy River near
Worthington is 13 feet, effective Oct 26, the flood stage will be
lowered to 11 feet.

The existing moderate flood level, where water is expected to
substantially impact homes very close to the river, is currently
15 feet. Effective Oct 26, the Moderate flood stage will be
lowered to 13 feet.

The existing Major flood level, where water is expected to
substantially impact many homes and some businesses very close to
the river, is currently 18 feet. Effective Oct 26, the Moderate
flood stage will be lowered to 16 feet.

Again, these levels have been determined based on recent flooding
in 2016, on digital elevation levels within the area, on cross
section information along the river channel, and in close
coordination with local and county officials.
