Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
1132 PM CDT Mon Mar 25 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Low-level winds will gradually veer from south to west today as a
cold front pushes across central Illinois. Windy rain showers
this morning may result in sporadic gusts up to 45 mph, mainly
east of I-55. Both rain and wind will diminish this evening, with
winds maintaining a westerly component. Vent rates will range from
fair-to-good across the region on Wednesday, becoming optimal by
Thursday as winds back to the southwest and mixing heights
increase. A slow- moving front then sets up over central Illinois
over the weekend, bringing low mixing heights and periods of
additional rainfall.
