...DROUGHT CONDITIONS HAVE IMPROVED SOME ACROSS THE NORTHEASTERN
NEBRASKA PANHANDLE AND NORTHWESTERN SANDHILLS...HOWEVER...DROUGHT
CONDITIONS HAVE INTENSIFIED IN THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN SANDHILLS...

.SYNOPSIS...

OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS A FAIRLY ACTIVE PATTERN...SPREAD
ABUNDANT RAINFALL TO THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE...PORTIONS OF NORTH
CENTRAL NEBRASKA...AS WELL AS A SMALL PORTION OF SOUTHWESTERN
NEBRASKA. OTHER LOCATION HAVE NOT FARED AS WELL...ESPECIALLY THE
EASTERN AND CENTRAL SANDHILLS WHERE LIMITED RAINFALL OCCURRED OVER
THE PAST MONTH. RAINFALL TOTALS OVER THE PAST 30 DAYS WERE RUNNING
25 TO 50 PERCENT OF NORMAL OVER THE EASTERN SANDHILLS AND PORTIONS
OF CENTRAL NEBRASKA. ACROSS THE CENTRAL SANDHILLS AND PORTIONS OF
WEST CENTRAL NEBRASKA...PRECIPITATION TOTALS RANGED FROM 50 TO 70
PERCENT OF NORMAL.


.LOCAL AREAS AFFECTED...

AS OF MAY 27TH ACCORDING TO THE US DROUGHT MONITOR...EXTREME DROUGHT
CONDITIONS WERE OCCURRING ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN LINCOLN...EASTERN
PERKINS...WESTERN FRONTIER...NORTHERN CUSTER AND LOGAN COUNTIES.
ELSEWHERE...SOUTH AND EAST OF A LINE...FROM BIG SPRINGS...TO
HYANNIS...TO THEDFORD...TO LYNCH...SEVERE DROUGHT CONDITIONS WERE
OCCURRING. NORTH OF THIS LINE TO A LINE EXTENDING FROM ANTIOCH TO
VALENTINE...ABNORMALLY DRY TO MODERATE DROUGHT CONDITIONS WERE
OCCURRING. NORTH OF THE ANTIOCH TO VALENTINE LINE...NO DROUGHT
CONDITIONS WERE OCCURRING.
