DROUGHT INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTH PLATTE NE
827 AM CDT THU JUN 16 2016 /727 AM MDT THU JUN 16 2016/

...WET CONDITIONS CONTINUE TO KEEP DROUGHT CONDITIONS ABSENT ACROSS
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...

OVER THE PAST 30 DAYS...NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED IN THE
PERIOD WITH PRECIPITATION GENERALLY ABOVE NORMAL ACROSS THE REGION.
THE EXCEPTION IS IN NORTHERN AND WESTERN PORTIONS OF SHERIDAN COUNTY
WHERE A PERIOD OF BELOW AVERAGE PRECIPITATION HAS OCCURRED.
HOWEVER FOR MOST AREAS...THE AMPLE PRECIPITATION HAS RESULTED IN
KEEPING DROUGHT CONDITIONS FROM DEVELOPING ACROSS THE REGION.
TEMPERATURES OVER THE PAST MONTH HAVE GENERALLY BEEN ABOVE NORMAL
EXCEPT FOR WESTERN CHERRY COUNTY AND PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL
SANDHILLS.

THE LATEST 6 TO 10 DAY OUTLOOK COVERING JUNE 21ST THROUGH JUNE
25TH...CALLS FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR AREAS ALONG AND WEST
OF HIGHWAY 83 FROM CURTIS TO VALENTINE...WITH NEAR NORMAL
TEMPERATURES ELSEWHERE. ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST FOR
ALL OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA FOR THE SAME TIME PERIOD.

THE LATEST 8 TO 14 DAY OUTLOOK COVERING JUNE 23RD THROUGH JUNE 29TH
CALLS FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND NEAR NORMAL PRECIPITATION
FOR ALL OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...EXCEPT FOR A SMALL
AREA SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80 AND WEST OF HIGHWAY 61 WHERE ABOVE
NORMAL PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED.

ACCORDING TO THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER...THE LATEST OUTLOOK FOR
JULY FAVORS BETTER CHANCES FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. THE PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK FOR
JULY CALLS FOR EQUAL CHANCES FOR ABOVE...NORMAL AND BELOW NORMAL
PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE AREA.

THE LATEST 3 MONTH OUTLOOK FOR JULY...AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER...CALLS
FOR BETTER CHANCES FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR ALL OF WESTERN
AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA FOR THAT PERIOD. FOR THE PRECIPITATION
OUTLOOK...THERE ARE EQUAL CHANCES FOR ABOVE...BELOW OR NEAR NORMAL
PRECIPITATION FOR ALL OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...EXCEPT
A SMALL PORTION OF NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA WHERE SLIGHTLY BETTER
CHANCES EXIST FOR ABOVE NORMAL PREICPITATION FOR THE 3 MONTH PERIOD.

SINCE NO DROUGHT CONDITIONS ARE OCCURRING IN THE OUTLOOK
AREA...AN ABRIDGED DROUGHT INFORMATION STATEMENT IS ISSUED. WHEN
THE ONSET OF MODERATE DROUGHT CONDITIONS BEGIN...AN EXPANDED
DROUGHT INFORMATION STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED ON THE THIRD
THURSDAY OF THE MONTH.
