A GOOD PORTION OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...


.SYNOPSIS...

OVER THE PAST 30 DAYS...A SHIFT IN THE WEATHER PATTERN...HAS BROUGHT
BENEFICIAL RAIN TO A LARGE PORTION OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL
NEBRASKA. AREAL COVERAGE OF SEVERE AND MODERATE DROUGHT
CONDITIONS...HAS SHRUNK OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS AS A COOLER
AND WETTER PATTERN SET IN ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA.
NONE THE LESS...MODERATE TO SEVERE DROUGHT CONDITIONS PERSISTED
ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA WHERE A LONG TERM PRECIPITATION
DEFICIT CONTINUED TO PERSIST OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS.

.SUMMARY OF IMPACTS...

AS OF AUGUST 17TH...ACCORDING TO THE US DROUGHT MONITOR...SEVERE
DROUGHT CONDITIONS WERE NOTED OVER THE WESTERN HALF OF KEYA PAHA
COUNTY AND FAR NORTHEASTERN CHERRY COUNTY. MODERATE DROUGHT
CONDITIONS WERE OCCURRING OVER PORTIONS OF EASTERN AND CENTRAL CHERRY
COUNTY, THOMAS COUNTY, BLAINE COUNTY, BROWN COUNTY, EASTERN KEYA
PAHA COUNTY AND BOYD COUNTY. ABNORMALLY DRY CONDITIONS WERE SEEN
ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF SHERIDAN COUNTY.

AS OF AUGUST 17TH...THE ELEVATION OF LAKE MCCONAUGHY WAS 3249.3 FEET
ABOVE SEA LEVEL AND WAS AT 75 PERCENT OF CAPACITY. THIS COMPARES TO
THE ELEVATION OF 3259.8 FEET ONE YEAR AGO. INFLOWS INTO THE LAKE
WERE 2207 CFS WHICH COMPARES TO 2024 CFS ONE YEAR AGO.
