...DROUGHT IS ABSENT ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...

.SYNOPSIS...

AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN CONTINUED DURING THE LATTER HALF OF MAY
INTO THE FIRST HALF OF JUNE. A PERSISTENT TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE
ALOFT WAS PRESENT ACROSS THE WESTERN HALF OF THE UNITED STATES
DURING THE PERIOD. ABUNDANT LOW LEVEL MOISTURE SURGED NORTH INTO
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA IN MAY FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS.
THIS MOISTURE COMBINED WITH A FAVORABLE UPPER LEVEL
PATTERN...PRODUCING SEVERAL EPISODES OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN
ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. THE UPPER AIR PATTERN HAS
BEGUN TO TRANSITION TO MORE OF A WEST TO EAST PATTERN ALOFT. THIS
PATTERN IS MORE FAVORABLE FOR DRIER CONDITIONS ACROSS THE CENTRAL
AND HIGH PLAINS.


.LOCAL AREAS AFFECTED...

DROUGHT CONDITIONS WERE ABSENT ACROSS ALL OF WESTERN AND NORTH
CENTRAL NEBRASKA. PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA ARE STILL
RECOVERING FROM THE LONG TERM DRY CONDITIONS AND ARE CLASSIFIED
AS ABNORMALLY DRY.

MAY 2015...THE PREVIOUS 6 MONTH PRECIPITATION TOTALS...DECEMBER
2014 TO MAY 2015...THE PREVIOUS 3 MONTH PRECIPITATION

AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS SAW A RANGE FROM ABOVE
NORMAL TO BELOW NORMAL.

.RIVER AND RESERVOIR CONDITIONS...

RIVERS AND STREAMS IN THE FRENCHMAN CREEK BASIN ACROSS CHASE AND
HAYES COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA WERE RUNNING SLIGHTLY BELOW
NORMAL...GENERALLY IN THE 30TH PERCENTILE. DUE TO INCREASED RAINFALL
IN MAY AND JUNE...OTHER PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL
NEBRASKA HAVE SEEN INCREASES IN STREAMFLOW. THROUGH MID JUNE...MANY
OF THE RIVERS AND STREAMS ARE NOW RUNNING ABOVE AVERAGE IN THE 90TH
PERCENTILE OR GREATER. RIVER FLOODING CONTINUED IN JUNE ALONG THE
NORTH PLATTE...SOUTH PLATTE AND PLATTE RIVER CHANNELS.

GROUNDWATER DEPTHS VARY ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA
FROM WELL BELOW NORMAL TO ABOVE NORMAL...HOWEVER THE MAJORITY OF THE
AREA IS SEEING NEAR OR ABOVE NORMAL DEPTHS. LOCATIONS WITH THE
LOWEST READINGS ARE BEING MEASURED ACROSS THE FRENCHMAN CREEK BASIN
IN SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA WHERE SOME VALUES ARE LESS THAN THE 10TH
PERCENTILE.


.PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

THE LATEST 6 TO 10 DAY OUTLOOK...COVERING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 23RD
THROUGH JUNE 27TH CALLS FOR NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES. NEAR NORMAL
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED ACROSS ALL BUT PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL
NEBRASKA WHERE ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED. THE LATEST 8
TO 14 DAY OUTLOOK...COVERING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 25TH THROUGH JULY
1ST CALLS FOR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES. ACROSS NORTHWEST NEBRASKA
NEAR NORMAL PRECIPITATION IS ANTICIPATED WITH ABOVE NORMAL
PRECIPITATION ACROSS SOUTHWEST INTO NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA.

THE LATEST 30 DAY OUTLOOK FOR JULY CALLS FOR HIGHER CHANCES FOR
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR ALL OF
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA.

THE LATEST 3 MONTH TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK FOR JULY...AUGUST...AND
SEPTEMBER FOR WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA ALSO CALLS FOR
HIGHER CHANCES FOR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND ABOVE NORMAL
PRECIPITATION.
