OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
242 AM CDT Mon Mar 25 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Gusty south-southeast winds will prevail through Tuesday afternoon
as a 29.2 inch low pressure center progresses from the Central
Plains toward the Lake Superior vicinity. Gales are expected
across the open waters from late tonight through mid-afternoon
Tuesday as said low pressure center makes its closest pass to Lake
Michigan. The previous Gale Watch has been upgraded to a Gale
Warning, effective between 1 AM and 4 PM Tuesday for the entirety
of the lake. Winds will shift out of the southwest following the
expiration of the Gale Warning late Tuesday afternoon as a cold
front approaches and ultimately crosses Lake Michigan. Periods of
rain will continue through Tuesday evening, with isolated
thunderstorms possible over the southern open waters from predawn
through early afternoon Tuesday.
