Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
936 AM EDT Mon May 6 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 30.1 inch ridge over the Great Lakes shifts east
today as a broad 29.1 inch low pressure develops on the Northern
Plains. A strong pressure gradient over western Lake Superior
begins to set up Tuesday morning as a 29.1 inch low pushes
eastward against 30.0 inch ridging over far northern Ontario. This
gradient loosens into Wednesday as the Northern Plains low
weakens and a 29.5 and a 29.4 inch low ejecting out of the Plains
move south of Lake Superior. After a brief window of height rises
late in the day Wednesday, another 29.4 inch low moves from the
Central Plains into the Lower Great Lakes early Thursday. Weak
30.0 inch ridging briefly builds in Thursday night through early
Friday before another 29.7 inch low pressure trough drops through
later in the day.
