FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS AREA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX
344 PM CDT WED MAY 4 2016

.DISCUSSION...
WARM...DRY AND LIGHT NORTHERLY WINDS WERE IN PLACE ACROSS THE
REGION THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BECOME LIGHT AND VARIABLE
TONIGHT BEFORE SWINGING AROUND TO THE SOUTH ON THURSDAY...THOUGH
THEY WILL REMAIN ON THE LIGHT SIDE. IT WILL BE EVEN WARMER
THURSDAY AFTERNOON WITH RH VALUES DIPPING INTO THE TEENS AND 20S.
WINDS WILL INCREASE LATE WEEK INTO THIS WEEKEND...LIKELY PEAKING
ON SUNDAY WHEN MUCH OF THE AREA ON THE CAPROCK COULD SEE CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER...THOUGH GREENING FUELS SHOULD TEND TO MITIGATE THE
OVERALL FIRE DANGER. BEFORE THEN...A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL VISIT THE REGION FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO
SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE THE BETTER RAIN CHANCES SHIFT EAST OFF THE
CAPROCK ON SUNDAY.
