...WINTER RETURNS TO THE TEXAS SOUTH PLAINS REGION SUNDAY AND
MONDAY...

MUCH COLDER AIR WILL BUILD INTO THE AREA TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. HIGHS
SUNDAY AND MONDAY WILL STRUGGLE TO WARM OUT OF THE 20S..WHILE LOWS
WILL PLUMMET MOSTLY TO THE TEENS OR LOWER 20S. MOISTURE LEVELS
WILL INCREASE ON SUNDAY LEADING TO AREAS OF LIGHT SNOW AND SLEET
SPREADING OUT OF THE PANHANDLE. THEN...A SERIES OF DISTURBANCES
WILL CROSS THE AREA LATE SUNDAY AND EARLY MONDAY WITH HIGHER SNOW
AND SLEET CHANCES AREA-WIDE. A LAYER OF WARM AIR ALOFT OVER
PORTIONS OF THE ROLLING PLAINS AND SOUTHERN SOUTH PLAINS WILL
LEAD TO CHANCES OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN ACROSS THESE AREAS.

THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL LOOKS MOST LIKELY ACROSS THE NORTHWESTERN
SOUTH PLAINS AND SOUTHERN PANHANDLE WHERE TWO OR MORE INCHES ARE
EXPECTED...WHILE MOSTLY AN INCH OR LESS IS FORECAST FOR AREAS TO
THE SOUTH. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH OF AN INCH OR SO WILL BE
POSSIBLE IN THE SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE SOUTH PLAINS AND ROLLING
PLAINS.

IN ADDITION...THE VERY COLD AIR WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY BRISK
NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 TO 20 MPH SUNDAY NIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY.
WIND CHILL READINGS WILL DROP BELOW ZERO ACROSS THE NORTHERN PART
OF THE SOUTH PLAINS AND THE FAR SOUTHERN PANHANDLE.

GIVEN THE COLD TEMPERATURES...ROADS ACROSS THE AREA ARE LIKELY TO
BECOME ICY...CAUSING TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL
ACROSS THE AREA ARE URGED TO KEEP INFORMED OF THE LATEST FORECASTS
AND POSSIBLE ADVISORIES.
