...ICY CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP FRIDAY THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY
WITH MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...

A cold front arriving Thursday night will set the stage for much
colder temperatures from Friday through Saturday night.
Precipitation should begin on Friday morning in the form of
occasional light freezing drizzle, before temperatures warm to
above freezing in the afternoon. As much deeper moisture arrives
Friday night and early Saturday, temperatures are likely to dip
to near or below freezing over much of the region resulting in
freezing rain at times. The most likely areas to see light ice
accumulations include the far southern Texas Panhandle and
adjacent areas of the Rolling Plains and South Plains.

With the approach of an upper storm system from the west on
Saturday, temperatures should rise to above freezing over all of
the South Plains, Rolling Plains and southern Texas Panhandle.
Current indications are that temperatures should remain above
freezing from Saturday afternoon through Sunday which will
curtail the threat for additional icing. However, unseasonably
rich moisture and strong lift from Saturday night through early
Sunday should generate widespread showers and thunderstorms,
with heavy rainfall and even minor flooding possible. Please
monitor the latest forecasts for additional updates and changes.
