...WINTRY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED TO RETURN TO THE SOUTHWEST TEXAS
PANHANDLE AND WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS...

AFTER UNSEASONABLY WARM CONDITIONS EARLY IN THE WEEK...WINTER WILL
RETURN TO THE SOUTH PLAINS AREA THIS WEEKEND WITH THE ARRIVAL OF
AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM. MOISTURE AND CLOUDS WILL SPREAD OVER
THE WEST TEXAS REGION ON FRIDAY WITH PRECIPITATION CHANCES
GRADUALLY INCREASING FROM WEST TO EAST DURING THE DAY. FRIDAY
NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING...WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION IS
EXPECTED. THE PRECIPITATION WILL DIMINISH FROM WEST TO EAST ON
SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

ALTHOUGH THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE FORECAST
TEMPERATURES...PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN MOSTLY RAIN
OVER THE ROLLING PLAINS INTO THE EASTERN SOUTH PLAINS. THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTHWESTERN TEXAS PANHANDLE AND THE
WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS MAY SEE TEMPERATURES COLD ENOUGH FOR
ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY
AFTERNOON. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS UP TO THREE INCHES WILL BE
POSSIBLE ACROSS THIS AREA. HOWEVER...THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
ARE EXPECTED TO BE CONFINED TO GRASSY AREAS WITH LESSER
ACCUMULATIONS ON PAVED ROADS.
