...OLD MAN WINTER RETURNS TO THE SOUTH PLAINS REGION TONIGHT...

AFTER A BRIEF REPRIEVE FROM THE RECENT WINTRY WEATHER TODAY...
ANOTHER COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THIS EVENING. MODIFIED ARCTIC
AIR WILL POUR INTO THE REGION BEHIND THE FRONT TONIGHT. IN
ADDITION...AN APPROACHING UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING THE
RISK OF SNOW TO THE REGION LATE TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING.
SNOW AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT...THOUGH THE SOUTHWEST TEXAS
PANHANDLE AND NORTHWEST SOUTH PLAINS COULD PICK UP AROUND AN INCH
WITH THIS INITIAL BATCH OF SNOW.

DRY CONDITIONS WILL RETURN THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...
THOUGH COLD AIR WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD INTO THE REGION WITH LOWS
BY FRIDAY MORNING EXPECTED TO MOSTLY IN THE TEENS...AND WIND
CHILLS NEAR OR SLIGHTLY BELOW ZERO. ADDITIONALLY...ANOTHER UPPER
LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH FROM THE WEST...WITH SNOW
EXPECTED TO REDEVELOP AND SPREAD FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS NORTHWEST
TEXAS. THERE REMAINS SOME UNCERTAINTY WHETHER THIS DISTURBANCE
WILL TRACK ACROSS THE TEXAS PANHANDLE OR MORE SQUARELY ACROSS THE
SOUTH PLAINS...BUT WHERE IT DOES GO...A QUICK 1 TO 3 INCHES WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...WILL BE POSSIBLE. SOME LIGHT WINTRY
PRECIPITATION COULD EVEN LINGER INTO LATE FRIDAY AND EARLY
SATURDAY...THOUGH ANY ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS ARE CURRENTLY
EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT.

THE COLD TEMPERATURES AND WINTRY PRECIPITATION COULD CREATE TRAVEL
DIFFICULTIES FOR PORTIONS OF THE REGION ANYTIME FROM LATE TONIGHT
INTO EARLY THIS WEEKEND. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL ACROSS THE AREA
ARE URGED TO KEEP INFORMED OF THE LATEST FORECASTS AND BE ALERT
FOR POSSIBLE WEATHER ADVISORIES.
