FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
531 AM EDT Thu May 16 2024

...Light rain showers and a rumble of thunder today through
tonight...

.DISCUSSION: As a low pressure moves into Lake Superior today,
light rain showers move through the area from west to east the
rest of today through tonight, with possibly a rumble of thunder
or two heard in the afternoon and evening hours. Overall, not much
more than a couple tenths of an inch of rainfall is expected, so
this shouldn`t alleviate drought concerns over the west and east
all that much. In addition, with the far east being near rain free
today, we could see some limited elevated fire weather concerns
in the interior far east as min RHs dip to around 30%. However,
with winds generally being 15 mph or less, no SPS for elevated
fire weather conditions was issued. Expect a full RH recovery
tonight across the area as the low`s cool front moves through. Dry
conditions return Friday, although fire weather concerns are not
expected as temperatures will be cooler and RHs higher.
