A MCS over NE KY this morning will be tracking into SW VA, with a projected arrival time in our area around 18Z. Some weakening of the storms is expected as it encounters a less favorable environment, as seen in the 12Z RNK sounding. Still, coverage of storms in SW VA and NE TN will probably be more than reflected in the current forecast, so the update will raise PoPs into the high end of the chance range for that area. Other soundings to our south and west suggest a pretty good cap that will limit convection to isolated coverage at best. Temperatures will be unchanged for central and southern sections today, with the heat index over 100 around CHA. Temps will be lowered slightly for NE sections where precip and cloud cover will be greater.
