181 FXUS64 KMRX 200743 AFDMRX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Morristown TN 343 AM EDT Wed Sep 20 2017 .SHORT TERM (Today through Thursday)...A weak trough trapped between Mississippi Valley high pressure ridge and Tropical Storm Jose will be responsible for isolated to scattered convection today and Thursday. Since this weak trough is embedded in what is otherwise fairly high pressure, temperatures will continue to run above normal. But today will be greeted with patchy fog...some of it dense in the west half of the area. Will avoid an advisory and hope an SPS will suffice for this morning`s fog. .Long Term (Thursday night through Tuesday)...The weak trough that has produced scattered showers and thunderstorms will move east of the area allowing a strong ridge to build into the Ohio and Tennessee valleys. This ridge will limit convection through the extended, but can not rule out isolated to widely scattered mainly afternoon/evening storms over the terrain. Abnormally high height values will keep temperatures above normal through the period with highs well into the 80s. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
