The upper level ridge axis is now to the east of the area with a shortwave trough moving across the Southern and Central Plains. High heights aloft and mostly sunny skies will lead to high temperatures around 8-12 degrees above normal. The atmosphere remains dry with PW values near 0.75 inches. These values are around the 25th percentile for mid-May. There is also a weak cap at 700-800 mb. Due to these factors, expect conditions will remain dry today with highs climbing up to around 90 for most valley locations.
