000 FXUS64 KMRX 221628 AFDMRX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Morristown TN 1128 AM EST Sun Jan 22 2017 .DISCUSSION... Currently in a lull during this period of active weather. Last of early morning pcpn is now exiting the area. It will be late afternoon/early evening before the next round of pcpn begins to impact the southern counties before spreading NE through the evening. Although potential for strong to marginally severe weather is possible with this next round, there will be limited CAPE with best dynamic support and shear remaining well south of the area. That said, did keep tstms in grids... particularly over the southern third of the area for this afternoon and evening. Increased max temps by a degree or two for southern third of the area this afternoon as breaks in clouds have allowed for some modest additional heating. Stacked low pressure center over central Arkansas is expected to move eastward along the TN border with MS- AL-GA before lifting NE along the spine of the Appalachians by Monday morning. Decreased QPF values area wide by about .15-.20 inches for remainder of the afternoon. However, potential for fairly significant rainfall on the order of 1.5 to 2.5 inches with locally higher amounts are still possible tonight and Monday as this low drifts NE and Gulf/Atlantic moisture continues to be pumped into the region. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
