(Today and tonight)...Some drying today behind the weak prefrontal trough shifting to our south. The weak front will remain to our north. Models indicate enough convective energy despite the drying to warrant mainly slight chance Pops for isolated convection today, with the best chance across southern areas where will carry low chance PoPs. May be a lingering isolated shower or thunderstorm early tonight mainly south, then should be precip free overnight. It will be hot today but a bit less so than recent days. MAV temps generally look reasonable so will stay close. .LONG TERM...(Tuesday through Sunday)...Probability of showers and thunderstorms drops off for most of the forecast area Tuesday into Wednesday as a weak frontal boundary slips southward to Southeast Tennessee and Southwest North Carolina. There will continue to be a chance for convection in these areas near the boundary at mid week. The remainder of the long term period is similar to previous forecasts however, timing of the end of the work week frontal boundary may be pushed back just a tad. It still looks like there will be a small increase in pops for Thursday, but the main period of unsettled weather with the next upper trough and cold front will be Friday into Saturday as the front drops slowly south through the Southern Appalachian region. Kept the Superblend token pops for Sunday mainly along the Tennessee and North Carolina border. High temperatures remain in the upper 80s and lower 90s until Friday when clouds and precipitation with the front help to cool things down a bit. Highs could drop to the lower and middle 80s behind the front over the weekend so a little heat relief is in store.
