...National Hurricane Preparedness Week is from May 5 to May 11...
...Prepare Before Hurricane Season...

The best time to prepare is before hurricane season begins. Avoid
having to rush through potentially life-saving preparations by
waiting until it`s too late. Get your disaster supplies while the
shelves are still stocked, and get that insurance checkup early, as
flood insurance require a 30 day waiting period.

If you are at risk from hurricane impacts, you need an evacuation
plan. The first thing you need to do is find out if you live in a
hurricane evacuation zone. You may also need to leave if you live in
a flood prone area. If you do, now is the time to begin planning
where you would go and how you would get there. You do not need to
travel hundreds of miles, but have multiple options. Be sure to
account for your pets, as most local shelters do not permit them.

Put your plan in writing for you and those you care about.
