AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA
1042 AM PDT Fri Jun 14 2013

.SYNOPSIS...
Scattered showers showers are expected today as temperatures
still remain on the cool side. Drier and much warmer weather can
be expected for the weekend. The next weather system will arrive
by Monday and bring more showery and cool weather for much of the
upcoming work week.

.DISCUSSION...
We made some adjustments to the precipitation forecast this
afternoon. The upper trough is on the way out, but there is one
last wave that will move east, clipping northeast Washington into
the Idaho panhandle. The current area of light showers is breaking
up over northeast Washington, but redevelopment is likely by early
this afternoon. As a result, precipitation chances were increased
(including isolated thunderstorm chances), mainly north and east
of a Colville to Coeur d`Alene line. Spokane will be on the edge
of the new precipitation, so we kept the city in the chance
category. The area of precipitation should quickly diminish/push
east after sunset, with the ridge of high pressure drying things
out for the weekend. The region should clear out tonight, so we`ll
have to look at the colder temperatures tonight and fog potential
for the northern valleys. All will be covered this afternoon. ty

.AVIATION...
18Z TAFS: A transition to a warmer and drier pattern is underway,
although a few TAF sites may have to deal with SHRA this
afternoon/early evening. The site that would most be affected is
KCOE, with KGEG possibly on far western edge of any precipitation.
Also, some gustiness to the winds are possible, but should remain
below 20kts. Otherwise, VFR will be the rule after 15/03z at all
sites with clearing skies and diminishing winds. ty
