Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Washington and North Idaho
National Weather Service Spokane WA
311 AM PDT Thu Aug 17 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY
EVENING FOR FIRE ZONES 677 FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...

.DISCUSSION...

...DRY AND UNSTABLE CONDITIONS ALONG WITH BREEZY WINDS ON
FRIDAY...

Dry and seasonably warm weather will persist this week under a dry
northwest flow aloft. Wildfire smoke will linger over portions of
north central Washington into north Idaho near the Canadian border.
Friday will be the warmest day of the week and is expected to be
dry...unstable and breezy ahead of another cold front. Moderate
high haines of a 5 will develop late Thursday over the southern to
central Cascades and spread eastward over all districts by Friday
morning. Unstable conditions are expected to result in increased
fire activity for any new or ongoing fires. Winds will then pick
up in the afternoon ahead of the front with gusts to between 20
and 30 mph possible. Weaker winds with temperatures cooling
slightly back to near seasonal average for the weekend.

Forecasts for 20 foot wind speeds (valleys and ridge tops) are
