Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Norman OK
313 AM CDT Fri Jul 21 2017

.DISCUSSION...
The extreme heat and high humidity will persist through Saturday
underneath the persistent and strong upper high pressure. A heat
advisory remains in effect for the eastern two-thirds of Oklahoma.
A weak upper short-wave trough in the westerlies is expected to
move through the northeast part of the upper southern plains ridge
and bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms Sunday and
Monday. Initially, a chance will exist in northern Oklahoma closer
to a weak surface boundary on Sunday. Most areas of Oklahoma will
have a chance for rain and thunder Monday before the upper ridge
again builds strongly for the rest of next week. Although
afternoon temperatures will lower slightly Sunday and Monday, a
return to the very hot conditions are expected for the second half
of next week with little to no chance for rain.
