...2016 will tie for warmest year since observations were moved to
Pittsburgh Airport...

2016 will average 54.2 degrees. This ties with 2012 as the
warmest year since official observations were moved to Pittsburgh
International Airport in 1952. Normal is 51.4 degrees.

Before 1952, observations were taken at the Allegheny County
Airport starting in 1935, and before that, at various locations in
downtown Pittsburgh beginning in 1871. The warmest year on record
was 55.4 degrees in 1921. Going back to 1871, 2016 will tie for
the 7th warmest year on record.

December 2016 will average 33.6 degrees which is 1.2 degrees
warmer than the normal of 32.4. This will be the 11th consecutive
month that averages above normal as every month of 2016 except
January was warmer than normal.

Precipitation for the year will finish about 3 inches shy of the
38.19 inch normal.

Last year, 2015, the temperature averaged 52.5 degrees. December
2015 was particularly warm, averaging 44.5 degrees...the 2nd
warmest December on record.
