TORNADO NEAR HOAGLAND IN MERCER COUNTY WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA ON
JULY 8 2014.

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FROM THE STORM SURVEY DONE BY THE NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH INDICATES A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN
NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 318 AND ORCHARD ROAD WITH
DAMAGE THAT CONTINUED TO NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 318
AND STONE BASE ROAD. THIS TRACK WAS DOWN ABOUT A 2.5 MILE STRETCH
OF STATE ROUTE 318 IMMEDIATELY WEST OF THE TOWN OF
HOAGLAND...ENDING ABOUT 2.6 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF THE CITY OF
MERCER.

WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH INDICATES STRAIGHT LINE WINDS CAUSED
DAMAGE ALONG A 2 MILE STRECH OF US HIGHWAY 62 AND STATE ROUTE 965
EAST OF JACKSON CENTER IN MERCER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA.

A MICROBURST IS A CONVECTIVE DOWNDRAFT WITH AN AFFECTED OUTFLOW
AREA OF LESS THAN 2 1/2 MILES WIDE AND PEAK WINDS LASTING LESS
THAN 5 MINUTES. MICROBURSTS MAY INDUCE DANGEROUS
HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL WIND SHEARS...WHICH CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT
