...SUMMARY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY NJ HAS CONFIRMED A
MACROBURST /STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE IN THE CHESTER CITY AREA IN
SOUTHERN DELAWARE COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA ON JUNE 23, 2015.

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SURVEY TEAM ACCOMPANIED THE LOCAL AND
COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS TO ASSESS DAMAGE IN ASTON,
BROOKHAVEN, UPLAND AND CHESTER CITY.

THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF UPROOTED AND SNAPPED HARDWOOD AND SOFTWOOD
TREES IN THE AFFECTED AREA. THESE TREES FELL TO THE EAST-SOUTHEAST.
AT LEAST 30 HOMES WERE CONDEMNED IN DELAWARE COUNTY AS A RESULT OF
THE DAMAGE FROM TREES FALLING ON HOUSES. MANY ROADS WERE IMPASSABLE
AS A RESULT OF DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES. SOME OF THE MOST
CONCENTRATED TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED IN TRIMBLE ESTATES NEIGHBORHOOD OF
BROOKHAVEN.

ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO RESIDENTIAL HOMES FROM THE STRONG WINDS WERE
MAINLY LIMITED TO MINOR SHINGLE AND SIDING LOSS. HOWEVER, THERE WERE
TWO TOWNHOUSES IN CHESTER CITY THAT SUSTAINED MAJOR OR COMPLETE LOSS
OF THE ROOF STRUCTURE. ANOTHER TOWNHOUSE IN CHESTER CITY EXPERIENCED
A COMPLETE COLLAPSE OF THE BRICK WALL TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE. THE
CONDITION OF THESE TOWNHOUSES PRIOR TO THE STORM WERE COMPROMISED
DUE TO PRE-EXISTING FACTORS.

A TRACTOR TRAILER TRAVELING ALONG INTERSTATE-95 IN CHESTER WAS
OVERTURNED AS A RESULT OF THE STRONG WINDS. ABOUT A HALF OF A MILE
DOWNWIND, SEVERAL WINDOWS WERE BLOWN IN ON THE WEST-FACING SIDE A
LARGE FACTORY.

OF AT LEAST 2 1/2 MILES WIDE AND PEAK WINDS LASTING BETWEEN 5 AND
20 MINUTES. INTENSE MACROBURSTS MAY CAUSE TORNADO-FORCE DAMAGE OF
UP TO EF3 INTENSITY. STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS ARE GENERALLY ANY WIND
