...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Winter Storm
Watch, which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Friday
afternoon.

* LOCATION...the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Wet Mountains and
  Pikes Peak above 11000 feet.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...a strong upper level storm system is forecast
  to move across the region Thursday afternoon, through the day on
  Friday. It will be capable of producing periods of heavy snow
  across the higher elevations of the Eastern Mountains.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...10 to 16 inches with locally higher amounts
  possible, especially on Pikes Peak.

* WIND...north 20 to 30 mph with gusts 55 to 60 mph.

* IMPACT...hazardous conditions are expected due to strong winds,
  blowing snow, poor visibilities and icy, now covered roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Winter Storm
Watch, which is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday
afternoon.

* LOCATION...Teller County and Northern El Paso County including
  Woodland Park and Black Forest.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...a strong upper level storm system will send a
  strong cold front south across the Palmer Divide Thursday
  evening. Periods of moderate to heavy wet snow will be possible
  Thursday night into Friday afternoon.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...6 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts
  over Teller County.

* WIND...north 35 to 45 with gusts in excess of 65 mph.

* IMPACT...hazardous travel conditions are expected due to very
  strong winds, areas of blowing snow, poor visibilities and icy,
  snow covered roads. In addition, the strong winds and heavy wet
  nature of the snowfall may produce power outages and cause tree
  damage where spring leafing has occurred.
