...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST THIS
AFTERNOON...

* LOCATION...THE EASTERN SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS ABOVE 10000 FEET.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...A MOIST...PACIFIC JET STREAM WILL CONTINUE TO
  BRING PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS TO THE CONTINENTAL
  DIVIDE THROUGH THE DAY.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION...LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOWFALL WILL
  CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH THE DAY...WITH ADDITIONAL
  ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES. THIS WILL PUSH STORM TOTAL
  SNOWFALL TO OVER 4 FEET.

* WIND...GUSTY WEST TO SOUTHWEST OF 35 TO 45 MPH WILL SLOWLY
  DIMINISH THROUGH THE LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON.

* IMPACT...TRAVEL WILL BE VERY HAZARDOUS...ESPECIALLY THIS
  MORNING...DUE TO HEAVY...BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...NEAR ZERO
  VISIBILITIES AT TIMES...AND ICY...SNOW COVERED ROADS. ROAD
  CLOSURES WILL BE POSSIBLE. AVALANCHE DANGER WILL BE EXTREME.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

LIFE THREATENING WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED.
SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OR FREQUENT GUSTS OVER 35 MPH AND
VISIBILITY REDUCED TO BELOW 1/4 MILE BY FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW
ARE EXPECTED.

AVOID TRAVELING IN THE WARNING AREA. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO
TRAVEL IN THE WARNING AREA DURING THE TIME OF THE WARNING...
LISTEN TO THE LATEST WEATHER FORECAST AND CONSIDER TRAVELING AT
ANOTHER TIME OR BY ANOTHER ROUTE. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL IN THE
WARNING AREA DURING THE TIME OF THE WARNING...TAKE ALONG A WINTER
SURVIVAL KIT. IF YOU BECOME STRANDED IN A RURAL AREA...STAY WITH
YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL HELP ARRIVES. IN SIMILAR CONDITIONS DURING
PAST BLIZZARDS...PEOPLE HAVE DIED OF EXPOSURE WHILE TRYING TO
WALK TO SHELTER. TO KEEP WARM IN YOUR VEHICLE...RUN YOUR ENGINE
10 MINUTES EACH HOUR...AND MAKE SURE THE EXHAUST PIPE IS CLEAR OF
SNOW TO AVOID CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.

  MOUNTAINS ABOVE 10000 FEET AND THE EASTERN SAWATCH RANGE AND
  THE WESTERN MOSQUITO RANGE ABOVE 11000 FEET...INCLUDING SOUTH
  FORK...CREEDE...NORTH PASS AND MONARCH PASS.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...A MOIST...PACIFIC JET STREAM WILL CONTINUE TO
  BRING PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS TO THE CONTINENTAL
  DIVIDE THROUGH THE DAY.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION...ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL TODAY OF 3 TO 6
  INCHES ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN AND 1 TO 3 INCHES ACROSS THE
  HIGH MOUNTAIN VALLEYS. THIS WILL BRING STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL TO
  BETWEEN 1 AND 3 FEET.

* WIND...GUSTY WEST TO SOUTHWEST AT 20 TO 35 MPH.

* IMPACT...TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS DUE TO HEAVY...BLOWING AND
  DRIFTING SNOW...POOR VISIBILITIES AND ICY...SNOW COVERED ROADS.

  BRING PERIODS OF SNOW TO THE REGION THROUGH THE DAY.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION...ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES
  TODAY...BRINGING STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS TO BETWEEN 8 AND 14
  INCHES.

* WIND...WEST TO SOUTHWEST AT 15 TO 35 MPH.

* IMPACT...TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS DUE TO PERIODS OF HEAVY...
  BLOWING SNOW...POOR VISIBILITIES AND ICY...SNOW COVERED ROADS.
