...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO NOON
MDT WEDNESDAY...

* LOCATION...Pikes Peak...the northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains
  above 11000 feet...and the Wet Mountains above 10000 feet.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...A very moist storm system will track slowly
  east across central New Mexico into Texas through Wednesday.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...1 to 2 feet with higher amounts possible.

* WIND...Becoming northeast at 20 to 40 mph tonight and
  Wednesday.

* IMPACT...Travel will be hazardous due to heavy snowfall, poor
  visibilities and snow covered roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow are forecast
that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If
you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

* LOCATION...The southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains above 11000
  feet...including the Spanish Peaks.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...A very moist storm system will track slowly
  east across central New Mexico into Texas through Wednesday.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...1 to 3 feet with higher amounts possible.

* WIND...Becoming northeast at 20 to 40 mph tonight and
  Wednesday.

* IMPACT...Travel will be hazardous due to heavy snowfall, poor
  visibilities and snow covered roads.

TO NOON MDT WEDNESDAY...

* LOCATION...Northern El Paso County, the lower elevations of the
  northern Sangre de Cristo mountains, northwest Fremont county
above 8500 feet, the Wet Mountain Valley and the Wet Mountains
between 6300 and 8500 feet. This includes but is not limited to,
Monument, Woodland Park, Rye, and Westcliffe.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...A very moist storm system will track slowly
  east across central New Mexico into Texas through Wednesday.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...5 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts.

* WIND...Northeast at 20 to 40 mph resulting in areas of blowing
  snow and poor visibility.

* IMPACT...Travel will be hazardous due to heavy snow, blowing
  snow, poor visibilities and snow covered roads.

  upper Rio Grand Valley, Saguache county east of the Continental
  Divide below 10000 feet...including Fremont, Monarch, Wolf
  Creek and Cumbres Passes.


* CAUSE AND TIMING...A very moist storm system will track slowly
  east across central New Mexico into Texas through Wednesday.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...5 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts.

* WIND...Becoming northeast at 15 to 30 mph tonight.

* IMPACT...Travel will be hazardous due to snow, poor
  visibilities and snow covered roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving.
