...RESIDENTS ACROSS THE TRIANGLE REGION URGED TO REMAIN INDOORS
THROUGH AT LEAST EARLY THIS AFTERNOON DUE TO THE DANGERS OF FALLING
TREES AND LARGE BRANCHES...

WHILE THE WINTER STORM HAS EXITED OUR REGION...POTENTIALLY LIFE-
THREATENING HAZARDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT.

FIRST...THE HEAVY WET SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATION...COMBINED WITH
GUSTY WINDS...ARE RESULTING IN FALLING TREES AND BRANCHES. AS OF
LATE MORNING...OVER ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND TRIANGLE AREA CUSTOMERS
ARE WITHOUT POWER. THE FALLING TREES...WHICH CAN HAPPEN JUST ABOUT
ANYWHERE IN THE AFFECTED AREA...PRESENT MANY DANGERS...INCLUDING
STRUCTURE DAMAGE...AND INJURIES OR WORSE. IF YOU HAVE A LOT A
TREES AROUND YOUR PROPERTY...BE READY TO QUICKLY MOVE INTO AN
INTERIOR ROOM OF YOUR HOME OR OFFICE...GET DOWN LOW...AND SEEK
SHELTER UNDER A STURDY PIECE OF FURNITURE SUCH A TABLE OR
WORKBENCH...IF YOU BEGIN TO SEE OR HEAR TREES FALLING AROUND YOUR
PROPERTY. DO NOT VENTURE OUTSIDE...BE SURE TO KEEP THE KIDS
INSIDE...AND STAY OFF THE ROADS UNTIL THE SNOW FALLS OR MELTS OFF
THE TREES. TREES OR BRANCHES IN THESE SITUATIONS CAN SNAP AT ANY
MOMENT...AND CAN BE DEADLY IF THEY FALL ON YOU OR YOUR CAR.

SECOND...WITH THE LARGE NUMBER OF POWER OUTAGES...MANY RESIDENT MAY
TURN TO ALTERNATIVE POWER AND HEATING SOURCES.  BE SURE TO EXERCISE
CAUTION AND SAFETY WHEN USING USING ALTERNATIVE HEATING AND COOKING
SOURCES AND GENERATORS. TO AVOID CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING...NEVER
USE GAS GRILLS OR ALTERNATIVE COOKING SOURCES INDOORS. MAKE SURE
ALTERNATIVE HEATING SOURCES ARE PROPERLY VENTILATED. WHEN USING YOUR
POWER GENERATOR...MAKE SURE IT IS LOCATED WELL AWAY FROM YOUR HOME
OR OFFICE...AND WELL AWAY FROM INDOOR AIR INTAKES. IF YOU VENTURE
OUTDOORS...STAY AWAY FROM DOWNED POWERLINES.

FINALLY...WIDESPREAD BLACK ICE IS EXPECTED TONIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF
CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA. FREEZING OF RESIDUAL SNOW...SLUSH...AND
WATER ON AREA ROADS WILL RESULT IN DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS
TONIGHT. THE BEST WAY TO STAY SAFE IS TO AVOID TRAVEL IF POSSIBLE.
IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN...LEAVE PLENTY OF FOLLOWING DISTANCE
AND EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION...PARTICULARLY AT INTERSECTIONS AND
HIGHWAY ON RAMPS AND OFF RAMPS WHERE ACCIDENTS ARE MORE LIKELY.
