...Forecast Flooding Changed from Major to Record Severity for the following
rivers ...Elk River at Clay and Queen Shoals.


Affecting the following counties in West Virginia...Clay...Kanawha.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


Turn around and don`t drown.  Do not drive into areas where
water is flowing over the roadway.  Most deaths occur when motorists
try crossing flooded roads.


Please report high water to the National Weather Service by
calling toll free...1-800-401-9535...when you can do so safely.

You may also report flooding by posting your report to the
Charleston West Virginia National Weather service Facebook
page...or by using the Twitter HASHTAG...NWSRLX.

The next statement will be issued around 9 AM or sooner if
conditions change.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Elk River At Clay.
* until this evening...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At  4:00 AM Friday the stage was 24.4 feet.
* Moderate Flooding is occurring and Moderate Flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast...the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by this
  afternoon.
* The crest wad 30.3 feet around 11 PM Thursday.  This was the 3rd highest
  crest on record at Clay.

...Forecast flooding increased from Major TO Record severity...
The Flood Warning continues for
  the Elk River At Queen Shoals.
* until late tonight...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 4 AM Friday the stage was 32.9 feet.
* Record Flooding is occurring and Record Flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 19 feet.
* Forecast...the river at Queen Shoals was in crest and should not
  rise much more. Water levels should then begin to slowly recede
  late this morning.
* The old flood of record at Queen Shoals was 32 feet set way back
  in 1888.
