FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SW VA...SE WV AND NW NC
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA
335 PM EDT SUN APR 20 2014

.DISCUSSION...
LOW PRESSURE OFF THE CAROLINAS WILL MOVE EAST OVERNIGHT...LEAVING
COOL HIGH PRESSURE WEDGED AGAINST THE EASTERN FACE OF THE
APPALACHIANS INTO MONDAY. THIS WILL RESULT IN A CONTINUED EASTERLY
FLOW INTO TONIGHT WITH WINDS DIMINISHING OVERNIGHT AND THEN
GRADUALLY TURNING MORE SOUTHWEST MONDAY AFTERNOON. HUMIDITY LEVELS
SHOULD SLOWLY RECOVER OVERNIGHT AS TEMPERATURES COOL BUT THEN FALL
BACK INTO THE 25 TO 35 PERCENT RANGE WITH HEATING ON MONDAY.

A COLD FRONT APPROACHES MONDAY NIGHT AND CROSSES THE REGION DURING
TUESDAY. MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FRONT WILL BRING THE NEXT
CHANCE OF WETTING RAINFALL IN THE FORM OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
PERHAPS A FEW THUNDERSTORMS TUESDAY AFTERNOON. WESTERLY WINDS
WILL BECOME GUSTY ALONG AND BEHIND THE FRONT TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY
NIGHT AND REMAIN STRONG FROM THE NORTHWEST ON WEDNESDAY AS COOL
HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN WITH MUCH DRIER AIR BEHIND THE FRONT.
DRY WEATHER CONTINUES ON THURSDAY AHEAD OF YET ANOTHER COLD
FRONT THAT WILL BRING AN ADDITIONAL THREAT FOR SHOWERS AND
STORMS FOR THE END OF THE WEEK.
