The NWS would like to thank the Webster County Sheriff`s Office for their assistance in the survey and documentation of the tornado. .Cowles Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 75 mph Path Length /statute/: 7.01 miles Path Width /maximum/: 40 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/06/2024 Start Time: 04:19 PM CDT Start Location: 3 SE Cowles / Webster County / NE Start Lat/Lon: 40.1451 / -98.3966 End Date: 05/06/2024 End Time: 04:29 PM CDT End Location: 4 SSE Rosemont / Webster County / NE End Lat/Lon: 40.2329 / -98.3303 Survey Summary: This tornado formed within a line of thunderstorms moving across Webster County. Damage along its 7 mile path included minor tree damage at a few locations, an overturned camper, a broken window and damage to older outbuildings. The tornado was likely embedded in rain and difficult to visually distinguish from the low clouds, rain and straight line winds associated with the line of storms. It lifted after doing some minor tree damage along Highway 78 near S Road. The tornado was rated an EF0 based upon the tree damage. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
